Other international institutions and initiatives

The Council for Media Services intensively develops relations with partners abroad, primarily within the European Union and beyond. The importance of these activities is growing with the number of audiovisual media services provided across borders and the number of European legislative initiatives primarily aimed at regulating online content. In addition to the ERGA and EPRA networks, the Central European Regulatory Forum (CERF), the Council of Europe, UNESCO and the World Health Organisation (WHO) form the space where the Council carries out its international activities.

Following the terrorist attack on 12 October 2022 in Bratislava on Zamocka Street, the Council for Media Services carried out several activities. Some of these have been carried out in the context of the international agenda, in particular in the form of active engagement in international groupings aimed at curbing the spread of extremist and terrorist material in the online space. Two of the most prominent global forums in this area include the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) and the Christchurch Call initiative. In both forums, staff from the Office of the Council for Media Services are involved in working groups with specific agendas.
