Christchurch call

The Christchurch Call initiative was founded in 2019 by New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and French President Emmanuel Macron. The platform brings together more than one hundred and twenty governments, online service providers and non-profit organisations working together to eliminate terrorist and violent extremist content online. The Christchurch call is linked to a series of global calls targeting disinformation, harassment, abuse and spreading hate online. In late 2022, the Council for Media Services became part of the Global Partnership for Action on Gender-Based Online Harassment and Abuse, an initiative established in the same year. The platform aims to better understand the phenomenon of gender-based hatred occurring in the digital space, linked to violent extremism, and to identify priorities and possible solutions to this growing problem, including through the use of technology and artificial intelligence.
