The Council for Media Services is a state administration body with nationwide scope, responsible for overseeing compliance with legal regulations governing broadcasting, retransmission, the provision of audiovisual media service on demand and the provision of content-sharing platforms.
The mission of the Council for Media Services is
- to promote the public interest in the field of broadcasting, retransmission, the provision of audiovisual media services on demand and the provision of content-sharing platforms
- to protect freedom of expression, the right to information and the right of access to cultural values and education
- to exercise state regulation in the field of broadcasting, retransmission, the provision of audiovisual media services on demand and the provision of content-sharing platforms.
The Council for Media Services shall carry out its activities independently and transparently in accordance with the objectives of the Media Services Act, which include, in particular,
- media pluralism
- cultural and linguistic diversity
- consumer protection
- accessibility, non-discrimination, the proper functioning of the internal market and
- the promotion of fair competition.
